Orthodoxy
In classical Christian usage, the term orthodox refers to the set of doctrines which were believed by the early Christians. A series of ecumenical councils were held over a period of several centuries to try to formalize these doctrines.
Saint John the Baptist
The Gospel of Mark introduces John as a fulfillment of a prophecy from the Book of Isaiah about a messenger being sent ahead, and a voice crying out in the wilderness. John proclaims the baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sin and says another will come after him who will not baptize with water, but with the Holy Spirit.

Pope Tawadros the 2nd
His Holiness was enthroned as the 118th Pope of Alexandria and Pope of the See of St. Mark on November 19th, 2012 at the Cathedral of St. Reweiss in Abbassiya, Cairo. The enthronement was presided by H.E. Metropolitan Pakhomius of Beheira, other metropolitans and bishops of the Coptic church and was attended by many delegates of Christian Churches.
Coptic Language
Learn about the Coptic Language and see resources to learn the language of the Church. Although it is restricted to liturgical Hymns and texts. There are efforts to revive the Coptic language of the Copts that were preached by Saint Mark the Apostle and is the 4th language generation from hieroglyphics.

Metropolitan Serapion
His Eminence Metropolitan Serapion was born on November 10th, 1951. After attending the Medical School at Assiut University, His Eminence graduated in 1976 and practiced medicine for a few years. Later, he joined the Monastery of St. Pishoy in Wadi El-Natroun Valley in Egypt and was consecrated as monk on August 6th, 1979. He was ordained as a priest on July 18th, 1981 at El-Sourian Monastery.
